Variable rates: why 4.9% may not stay 4.9%
Many money market rates are variable. A variable rate can change after a customer opens an account, sometimes because of market conditions, institution policy, or promotion windows.
That does not make the rate bad. It means a person should avoid treating a current number as a fixed long-term promise unless the official terms clearly say so.
A calmer framing
Think of 4.9% as a snapshot to verify, not a permanent conclusion.
